Tornado struck Nepal, EpiNurses contributing to DRR

Massive winds accompanied by hailstorms and rain, "Tornado" battered Bara, Parsa on 2019/03/31, Sunday evening 7:45 pm to 8:15 pm. EpiNurse Nepal team was deeply grieved and distressed over the loss of more than 30 lives and injuries over 600, after the devastating tornado. Our EpiNurses ( Raj Kumari Gyawali, Deena Aryal, Sandhya Neupane , Sharada Barakoti, Srijana Lingthep, Roshani Shrestha) helped on Disaster Risk Reduction after devastating rainstorms in Bara and Parsa district of Province 2 occurred on 17th Chaitra 2075 ( 31st March 2019) in coordination with Local leader ( Birendra Shah), Birgunj National Medial College ( Hospital Director and Nursing Director), Kaliya District Hospital (Hospital and Nursing Director ), UNDP, Nursing Association of Nepal, Birgunj Branch ( Binita Shah, Secretary , Hema Thapa , Member of branch), Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) . EpiNurses performed health assessment of victims, child health assessment, assessed the condition of living environment and shelter, assured the quality of food and drinking water that are being served to them, provide heath teaching on the preventing outbreak of epidemics , worked at the health camp in coordination local organization. As well as they tested the new version of EpiNurse Application and Disaster Risk Record Diary..
